FEATURED EVENT:
Rabbi Goldstein's adult education classes
B’ruchim Ha-ba’im! (Welcome!)
Congregation Sha’arey Ha-Yam, Gates of the Sea, is a Reform Jewish congregation - the only one between Toms River and Atlantic City - and a member of the Union for Reform Judaism. Founded in 2004, our community has grown steadily since then. Erev Shabbat (Friday evening) services are held twice a month at 7:30 pm, and full services are held on the High Holy Days. Our meeting place is the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, 330 North Main Street, Manahawkin, We gladly extend our hand in friendship and faith to all who wish to join us. Our mission is to create a warm and supportive environment which nurtures the hearts, minds and spirits of all our members. We are born Jewish, Jews-by-Choice, and interfaith, young and old, single and partnered, straight and gay. We come from Reform, Conservative, Reconstructionist and Orthodox Jewish backgrounds as well as other religious traditions and no religious traditions.
Specifically, we seek to be:
1. A Bet Ha-Tefilah (a House of Prayer), providing a place for Jewish worship in the tradition of Reform Judaism but fully accessible, welcoming and nurturing to all.
2. A Bet Ha-K’nesset (a House of Assembly), a gathering place for the local Jewish community, offering programs and activities which promote the spiritual, educational and ethical welfare of all of our members.
3. A Bet Ha-Midrash (a House of Study), educating our children and preparing them to assume their place among the next generation of Jewish adults.
We are delighted that you have found your way to us, and we welcome your inquiries. Please explore this web site, and don’t hesitate to contact us by phone or e-mail for more information. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our community.
